"It’s that time of the year again when I give you all my involved releases from the year in one mixtape! Just my way of saying Happy New Year to all! I’m sure it’s plenty of songs on here you may have missed in this over-saturated market we call Hip Hop- and maybe all of these songs some may have never heard at all before. I’m very excited about this one because you can really see how far me and my good friends have come when it comes to our music and its overall quality.
When I released my first solo recording in late 2005, the Japanese release of Dedication, I knew I should continue to create music and I’m really glad I did. I’ve met a lot of good people from many parts of the world who I probably wouldn’t know if I didn’t create music. It still blows mind knowing that someone in some place like Latvia or Brazil or even right down the street has the sounds I’m creating in my studio here in the U.S. echoing off the walls of their home. This year, I saw a lot of changes and I’ve been fighting to stay positive and go with the flow. I started off this year with a chip on my shoulder, health problems and a trip to the emergency room due to anxiety complications but I’m back on top of my shit.
I really enjoyed recording Don’t Care this year and it's my sole release of the year. Shout out to my bro Neak for inspiring that strong 30 days of organic creativity, it's definitely the quickest I've ever worked in my career and the quality is still there and better than ever. I think I just needed to go thru a little pain to make me stronger and I'm feeling stronger than ever. I also feel great about the people in my corner and the ones that I'm working with at the moment- it's been a lot of “chess pieces” moving around in the past few years and the game is in a good place now.
Anyway, enjoy this great body of work in your homes, cars, headphones and favorite DJ’s live set all over the world as always! I’m headed into the future with the guns blazing and catching bodies- figuratively, of course. Special shouts to my bro Valentine, my bro Sweetz aka Ronnie, Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive, Kevin Nottingham, my cousin Rob G, Leor Galil and Jennifer McLaughlin of Chicago Reader, Melatone aka Yarbrough, Thaione Davis, Philmore Greene, Saul, DJ Scrap Dirty, Neak, Sincerely Yours, FABLE, Slot-A, Phil G, Ninety One, Tree, Project Mayhem, Future Freshman, SpoT, Internal Quest, J-Rell, DJ Ambush, Jeff Da Illest, Crystal Lajune, Guilty Simpson and Small Professor for having that remix contest and YOU for listening! Rashid Hadee and I’m out. Lord!"
